First,
foremost and only she is a food hound!!
I kept
coming home and finding my fridge open. I thought there was
something wrong with the seal. So I had it replaced. Then I come
home, the fridge door open, but now food is missing! So I sit
back,.. and watch,.. and wait. Gizelle has learned by watching me
how to open the fridge. And not by pulling on the tea towel. She
actually uses her paw like a hand and works her nails between the
fridge and door, pulls, and opens it! As you can see by the pictures
I had to put a LOCK on the fridge door to prevent her from 'helping
herself'!!
Show
Clothes: Here is topic that many basenji owner's have known but
Gizelle puts a whole new twist on the matter. When I come home from
a dog show, that I had food in my pocket, I MUST make sure I put my
clothes away. Not just in the hamper, as she will pull them out and
eat the pockets that I had bait in. BUT she will get it from behind
closed doors!! After a show, knowing Gizelle as I do, I hung my
clothes in the ' dry cleaning' section of my closet. Figure I'd save
some pockets. But alas NO. I left the closet door open an inch, and
she implemented her 'fridge antics' and pulled open the closet
door, yanked the clothes off the hanger and devoured the inside and
outside of the pants pocket. Then went to work on the suit jacket
pockets!!
Gizelle
also has a taste for buttons. Susan Coe, who finished Gizelle's
American Championship, was amazed that while cuddling Gizelle,
ringside in her lap, she would flip over and nibble on Susan's shirt
buttons, till they were undone!
Now
that Gizelle is 5 years old, you would figure she would settle down.
Not MY Gizelle!! She has another talent. She 'dances' for her
supper! She will stand on her back legs waving and batting her front
paws, while spinning 'dancing' at you till she gets her dinner!
When I
attend shows in the RV. I tend (ed) to leave dinner to de-frost in
the sink, like any normal person would. BUT I do not live with a
normal dog!! Many nights, I have come home to meat wrappers on the
floor! Alias, soup again.... God help me if she ever learns how to
open a can..........I will starve.....................
I can't
wait till next month to see what she comes up with
next....................
