Leo
went down to North Carolina, USA to my dear friend, Professional
Handler Russella Bowen-Wilkerson in search of his American title.
He
went Winners dog and Best of Winners at most shows for a total of
14 points, including a 5 point major.
Unfortunately, Leo came home before finishing his championship
because there were no majors to be found. I will be taking him to
Washington to finish his American championship.
Leo
is such a gentleman. He
gets along with everyone, human or animal.
He is very polite and helpful to others. In fact, he will use his
little paws as hands (just like his mother Gizelle
http://www.beaubri.com/Gizelle.html ) to get things off the kitchen or
bathroom counters, so the other dogs can run away and chew, hide
or bury the prized items. Leo himself will never spoil the
rewards, just give them to the other 'kidz' to destroy :))
As
with most Basenji's and children, they learn by example. Leo is no
exception. He tends to sit on the couch like a human, on his bum,
with all four feet in the air. It's so cute, I can't resist giving
him a belly rub every time I walk by...
Leo is now residing in New Jersey,
USA with a wonderful couple Tom & June, who have owned Basenjis
before. With Leo being such a soft tempered, loving dog, I
thought is was best that he move into a home environment, where
he will get lots of couch time and plenty of one on one
attention with 'his' humans.
Leo will be left intact so I may use
him in my breeding program in the future.
Leo will also be joined with
a little Black and White baby sister in Feb of 2010.
